Oh January...

So I have been doing some smaller projects this month trying to work myself up to doing a dresser and a bench/chest thing that I want to put in our room.  I am finding little things and end up keep wanting to put more stuff in our master bedroom- which is getting considerably harder because the room is filling up quick and that is without the dresser and chest.  SO...........
here are some things--- I had this idea to make some sort of collage on this bare wall in our room- colored frames with all black and white pictures.  I have gradually picked up frames at the DI and made one myself and finally got them all hung up tonight.

meh? The brighter yellow one down in the left hand corner needs to have black glaze put on it so its not as bright but it looks ok for now right?

I turned our centerpieces from our wedding into some decorative things for our room- because in all honesty whoever knows what to do with those after the wedding?
This is how they were for our wedding--

And this is how they look now that I have transformed them- I have two of these smaller ones and then one big one for our dresser.  I spray painted the twiggy stick things black and yellow- with the reliable Krylon spray paint (plain black and bright idea yellow) picked up two vases from wal mart costing about 5 bucks each ( the originals from our wedding were borrowed) My mom gave me the other vase for the big one. Pretty cheap decoration for our room- not to mention cute right?

Over Thanksgiving my sister Jodie had this idea for a project- take frames and take the backs out and put vinyl on them.  She did her last name (cause it is short and sweet) and I did the word "Family" I got my frames at the DI- of course for about .50 cents to $1.25- spray painted them with Kylon color celery- sanded down the edges and stained them.  Again-- I like to go the cheap route- although it is much more time consuming than just buying some cute frames.
Here are Jodie's frames--

And here are mine all hung up and looking cute in our upstairs hallway-

I made a Jewelry box for my niece Brenna- It was my first detailed re-do and it turned out ok- I got it at the DI for $2.00

AFTER--
Pretty cute right? I just had this idea when I was standing there in the DI-  I have always wanted something bigger to use this Krylon spray paint color called Blue Ocean Breeze  (i think that is the name) and when I saw this jewelry box I thought "Wow that would be cute in the blue color with some zebra filling in it-- so I made it happen! I also found this table at the DI for 5 bucks- I just painted it- nothing too fancy yet so I might add a little something extra but I haven't decided yet.
BEFORE--
yucky right?
AFTER--
see nothing crazy fancy but better than before right?
I had painted this frame a while ago but just glazed it so now its finished- my aunt gave it to me and it was gold before. I put it right above our bed (for future reference, when going to get a picture enlarged- they dont make the size 14x18- I had to get 12x18.)

Loooover it- Colby's little sister got her photographer/ crafting skills on and made me and her mom one of these cute signs- it says Lambourne and she went and took all the pictures herself down town- notice how the U in Lambourne is the U up on the hill at the University of Utah? that is Colby's favorite part- I'm sure of it. Colby finally hung this for me a couple weeks ago at the top of our stairs.
she did a good job huh? I love it!! I have already gotten a couple compliments on it- the best part? it's homemade- not bought! Ok- I am off to bed- I have school and work tomorrow- don't be jealous.  I am hoping to work up some courage to start a bigger project this week! wish me luck!
